During an influenza pandemic, the Canadian government and/or international governments may impose travel restrictions to delay the spread of influenza to other areas. This may prevent out-of-province and international travel.

If you are travelling outside of Canada and develop a fever and a cough while travelling:

  • Seek medical attention immediately.
  • Inform a health care provider of your symptoms.
  • Avoid direct contact with others if possible, unless directed to seek medical care.
  • Notify one of the airline crew immediately, if you are on a plane, and
  • Notify a Canadian Border Service officer when you go through Customs.

If you are planning to travel to or from other countries, ensure you are aware of any travel restrictions in advance. There may be the possibility of quarantine measures while travelling. It is advised that you not travel while ill.
